After graduating from University College London Medical School, Mr Panthagani embarked on Ophthalmology training at several centres across the West Midlands. This journey culminated in specialist Fellowship training in corneal transplantation, complex cataract surgery, and ocular surface disease at Birmingham Midland Eye Centre and Southend University Hospital, where he mastered cutting-edge techniques in the field.

Mr Panthagani is deeply committed to research, as shown by his regular contributions to high-impact peer-reviewed journals and presentations at international conferences. He was appointed Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham, with a research focus on ocular mucous membrane pemphigoid, a rare surface-scarring condition. His work earned him the prestigious Bowman Club Prize.
