About Jehan Ghany

Personal Profile

Dr Jehan Ghany is a fellowship-trained Consultant Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiologist with extensive expertise in musculoskeletal imaging and image-guided intervention. She holds a Consultant Radiologist position within the University Hospitals of Liverpool Group and provides specialist musculoskeletal diagnostic and interventional services for patients experiencing a wide range of bone, joint, muscle and soft tissue conditions.

Dr Ghany has a particular interest in sports injury imaging, bone and joint infection, orthopaedic oncology, soft tissue sarcoma and rheumatological conditions. Her expertise encompasses advanced musculoskeletal MRI, ultrasound and CT imaging, helping to support accurate diagnosis and guide effective treatment planning for both acute injuries and complex long-term conditions. She is also highly experienced in image-guided interventions, including joint and soft tissue injections, bone biopsies, spinal procedures, cryoablation and radiofrequency ablation.

Originally educated in the United States, Dr Ghany graduated from Cornell University, New York, with a BA (Honours) in Molecular and Cell Biology. She subsequently studied medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, graduating with honours before completing her foundation and radiology training in Liverpool.

Following completion of specialist training, Dr Ghany undertook a prestigious fellowship in Musculoskeletal Imaging and Intervention at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, USA, one of the world's leading centres for musculoskeletal radiology. During her fellowship, she gained advanced experience across all aspects of MSK imaging and intervention, including imaging of elite athletes from major professional sports organisations. This training provided exposure to complex musculoskeletal injuries and advanced minimally invasive procedures, further enhancing her expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of both routine and highly specialised conditions.

Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Ghany is actively involved in postgraduate medical education and leadership. She serves as Specialty Tutor for Radiology within her NHS Trust and is committed to the training and development of future healthcare professionals. She regularly teaches medical students, radiology specialist registrars and musculoskeletal radiology fellows, helping to deliver high-quality education across all stages of training.

Dr Ghany is also a recognised contributor to the wider radiology community. She is frequently invited to teach on regional and national courses, including programmes delivered by the British Society of Skeletal Radiology, and regularly attends and presents at national and international conferences. Her academic contributions include authorship of several book chapters and numerous presentations on musculoskeletal imaging. She has received multiple awards for her research and educational work, including recognition from the Society of Skeletal Radiology for her presentation on patellar maltracking.

Through her combination of specialist fellowship training, clinical expertise and commitment to education, Dr Ghany provides patients with access to expert musculoskeletal imaging and intervention, supporting accurate diagnosis and high-quality care for a broad range of orthopaedic, sports injury and rheumatological conditions.
