Dr Jaydeep Sarma is an experienced Consultant Cardiologist who provides expert assessment, diagnosis and treatment for the full spectrum of cardiovascular disease. He is committed to delivering personalised, evidence-based care, taking time to understand each patient's concerns and ensuring that they fully understand their condition and treatment options.

Patients consistently value Dr Sarma's calm, approachable manner and his ability to explain complex medical problems clearly and reassuringly. Alongside wide expertise in general cardiology, Dr Sarma has extensive experience in advanced interventional cardiology and structural heart disease. This enables him to provide balanced advice on both medical and procedural treatment options, referring for specialist care where appropriate as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Dr Sarma sees patients with both common and complex heart conditions and believes that excellent cardiology combines outstanding clinical expertise with compassionate, patient-centred care.

Training and Appointment

Dr Sarma studied Medicine at the University of Cambridge, before completing his clinical training at the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine.

He undertook postgraduate medical training in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and Nottingham before specialising in cardiology at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester.

He was awarded a prestigious Wellcome Trust Clinical Training Fellowship to undertake a PhD at the University of Edinburgh, investigating the mechanisms underlying coronary artery disease. Following completion of his specialist cardiology training, he was awarded a British Heart Foundation Advanced Training Fellowship to the internationally renowned Cardiovascular Centre in Aalst, Belgium, where he gained advanced expertise in coronary intervention and structural heart disease.

Dr Sarma has been a Consultant Cardiologist at the North West Heart Centre, Wythenshawe Hospital, since 2008.

Current Practice


Dr Sarma provides comprehensive cardiology consultations for adults with suspected or established heart disease.

Dr Sarma also offers expert assessment for patients requiring minimally invasive catheter-based valve procedures including TAVI and valve repair technologies. Dr Sarma undertakes tricuspid and mitral valve repairs using edge-to-edge technology, paravalvar leak closures,

and has many years of experience in septal defect and PFO closure. Dr Sarma started his career in coronary angioplasty and stenting over 30 years ago, and maintains an active interest in these very important areas of intervention, with in depth knowledge of coronary physiology and intra-coronary evaluation including IVUS and optical coherence tomography.

  • Published researcher with numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers.
  • National and international lecturer and faculty member for cardiology education.
  • Previously lead for cardiovascular rehabilitation and prevention programmes.
  • Strong advocate for patient safety, cardiovascular prevention & quality of care.
