Personal Profile

Mr Jason Lee is an experienced Consultant Breast and Reconstructive (Oncoplastic) Surgeon, and currently the Clinical Lead for the Breast Service at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, which encompasses Northwick Park, Ealing and Central Middlesex Hospitals. He was educated as a scholar at both St Paul’s School and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. In 1999, he qualified with a double distinction (Medicine and Surgery) from the University of Cambridge Medical School.

He undertook early surgical training at the Middlesex Hospital and subsequently went on to be awarded a postgraduate Master of Surgery (MS) thesis from the University of London. His research work looked into genetic influences on the inflammatory response to surgery. Higher Surgical training was spent in the North West Thames region, culminating in a prestigious National TIG Oncoplastic Fellowship year at the Royal Marsden Hospital.

In 2013 he was appointed as a full time substantive Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at London North West University Healthcare NHS trust. He is also an Honorary Consultant at the Royal Free Hospital, doing regular clinics as part of the North London NHS Breast Screening Service. Finally, he is also as an Honorary Consultant at Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust, where he regularly operates on complex reconstructive patients in conjunction with the Plastic Surgery team there.

As the Clinical Lead at LNWUH, he has pushed forward innovative roles in breast assessment, appointing and supervising both a Trainee Breast Clinician and a GP with a Specialist Interest (SPIN) doctor. In addition, he is developing closer links with the Regional Genetics Service. He is a core member of the Royal Marsden Partners Breast Pathway group. He regularly teaches the London General Surgery Higher Surgical trainees, and his sessions receive positive feedback for being clear and informative.

He has been commended on his ability to communicate reassuringly, empathetically and clearly. He is able to put patients at ease, and for those with a cancer diagnosis, help navigate through personalised complex decision-making towards an excellent outcome. He is able to explore what patients’ priorities are, and guide them through shared decision-making. He is a core member of the Multi-Disciplinary Breast Cancer teams (MDT) both in the NHS and the Clementine Churchill Hospital.

Specialist interests include breast health and screening, personalisation of cancer care, and using Plastic Surgery techniques to simultaneously optimise the cancer and aesthetic outcomes from surgery. He lives in West London with his young family. When not working or spending time with his family, he remains keen to run further and faster than before
