Mr Jason Nandlal has been an NHS Consultant Podiatric Surgeon since 2003. He qualified from Plymouth School of Podiatric Medicine in 1985, and by 1987 had begun his podiatric surgery training. His surgical fellowship was completed at Bridge Hospital, Essex, in 1999, and he achieved his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Surgical Training in 2003. Following this, he was appointed NHS Consultant Podiatric Surgeon at Mid Essex PCT and South East Essex PCT, as well as Consultant Podiatric Surgeon at Hendon Hospital. Subsequently, he completed an MSc in Theory of Podiatric Surgery and an Advanced Practice qualification in Podiatric Surgery, both from the University of Huddersfield.
He has gained Independent Prescriber status and has been awarded a fellowship by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in Podiatric Medicine. He has also previously served as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Podiatric Surgery.
His passion for his profession runs deep. He is currently a surgical tutor and examiner for the Royal College of Podiatry, Faculty of Podiatric Surgery. He invests significant time in training junior podiatric surgeons and has lectured regionally, nationally, and internationally on the subject of podiatric surgery. He also leads workshops on osteotomy techniques for hallux abducto valgus (bunions) and skin suturing. In addition, he is a visiting clinical lecturer at the University of Huddersfield on both the MSc Theory of Podiatric Surgery and the Master’s in Podiatric Surgery training programme.
Mr Nandlal provides a comprehensive range of foot and ankle day surgical procedures. His 40-year career working with a wide array of foot and ankle pathologies—both functional and aesthetic—provides him with an exceptional knowledge base. His specialism lies in pathology of the first metatarsophalangeal (big toe) joint, including hallux valgus, hallux rigidus (arthritis), and revision surgery.
He adopts a holistic approach, placing the patient at the centre of all treatment. Care is tailored to suit each individual’s lifestyle, ensuring that conservative options have been fully explored (including ultrasound-guided joint and soft tissue injections). He ensures patients are fully informed about their options, discussing the risks and benefits of any recommended treatment so they can make confident decisions.
His care plan supports patients every step of the way, from the initial consultation through to follow-up appointments. He welcomes any questions or concerns prior to surgery and believes that no patient should ever feel rushed when discussing their foot health.
Mr Nandlal prides himself on using the latest proven techniques and technology in foot surgery, including computerised gait analysis, ultrasound-guided injections, and advanced bone fixation. This contributes to high patient satisfaction rates and low revision and re-operation rates.
The benefits of podiatric surgery include specialist surgical treatment of the foot and its related structures. It aims to correct developed foot deformities, reduce pain, and improve mobility.
Outside of work, Mr Nandlal enjoys clay pigeon shooting and watching cricket from the pavilion at Lord’s as a member of the MCC. He also has a passion for motorsport and enjoys watching football in North London. His other interests include Freemasonry and Rotary. He is also a Freeman of the City of London.
