Personal Profile

Miss Gahir is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast and General surgeon at the North Middlesex Hospital offering general and breast surgery since December 2013. She graduated from Leeds University in 1999 and did my house jobs at St James Hospital before moving to Cardiff for my BST till 2003.

Miss Gahir then moved to London for her research at Breakthrough Breast Cancer laboratory at the Institute of Cancer Research looking at matched pairs of primary breast cancer and distant metastasis. During that time she received her training post in Birmingham, where she spent 2.5 years in general surgery and breast surgery.

She moved back to London to be with her family and also complete her training. In the last three years Miss Gahir gained more Breast Oncoplastic skills and excellent trauma skills from the Royal London.

Miss Gahir undertook an international fellowship in Milan at the world-renowned Institute of Umberto Veronesi, the IEO where she made valuable relationships to enhance the international connections in breast surgery.

Since starting at NMH Miss Gahir set up the whole Oncoplastic Services and did the first breast reconstructions at the trust in March 2014. The reconstruction rate is well above 50% with every patient being offered the best options.

Within the next few months she will be the Lead of the Breast Unit. Breast surgery is changing and the perception of patients is not just getting their cancer treatment but at the same time still ensuring their beauty and wellbeing is maintained.
