About Prof Jarrod Homer

Personal Profile

Prof Jarrod Homer is a senior accredited Consultant ENT/Head and Neck Surgeon. He is very experienced in the generality of ear, nose and throat (ENT) conditions and surgery, and has particular expertise in head and neck cancer surgery, thyroid surgery, rhinoplasty, voice and snoring.

He has been a Consultant Otolaryngologist - Head and Neck Surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary since 2002, where he leads the head and neck cancer service. He is also a Professor at the University of Manchester.

He holds a number of regional and national positions of responsibility in ENT/head and neck surgery. He is invited to lecture various audiences, nationally and internationally. He is an opinion leader and is widely published with 100 peer-reviewed papers and having supervised several research doctorates.

He practices evidence-based medicine, which, coupled with almost 20 years experience as a consultant, leads to effective interventions where indicated.

He has innovated in several areas of ENT surgery and was one the first UK surgeons to regularly perform ultrasound scanning for patients with neck and thyroid lumps. Prof Homer is also very experienced in cosmetic rhinoplasty, having performed more than 1000 cosmetic rhinoplasties.

His major NHS activity is head and neck surgery. Head and neck surgery is ablative and reconstructive surgery for tumours and cancer of the mouth, throat, face and neck; salivary gland surgery, and other surgery for other tumours of the head and neck region. He also has a particular interest in craniofacial surgery for cancers of the anterior and lateral skull base.

He also provides a head and neck neurological service dealing with patients with dystonia's, amongst other problems, with treatment injections.
