About Mr James Ramus

Personal Profile

Mr James Ramus is a Consultant General Surgeon at Circle Reading Hospital.

He qualified in 1997 from St Mary’s Hospital, London. Following this, Mr Ramus underwent basic surgical training in London followed by higher surgical training in the Oxford region. He then became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, 2001 and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2009.

Mr Ramus was awarded an MD in Clinical Research 2008 from University College, London for work on Barrett’s oesophagus and progression to oesophageal adenocarcinoma.

He also underwent a post CCT fellowship in Bariatric and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery in Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton (Level 1 Unit and Centre of Clinical Excellence for Bariatric surgery) in 2010-11. Since then, he has been appointed as a substantive Consultant General/UGI and Bariatric Surgeon at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading in May 2012.

Mr Ramus is married with 2 children. He supports Wycombe wanderers FC where he occasionally performs crowd doctoring duties at Adam's park on a Saturday afternoon when family commitments allow!
