About Mr James Armitage

Personal Profile

Mr James Armitage is as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Addenbrooke's hospital. He studied medicine at Guys and St Thomas' Hospitals in London and did his basic surgical training in Chichester. He then undertook a period of research investigating the epidemiology and management of benign prostatic hyperplasia at The Royal College of Surgeons of England which led to the award of MD.

James went on to complete his training in East Anglia during which time he gained specialist experience at both the Norfolk and Norwich and Addenbrooke's Teaching Hospitals.

Mr James Armitage has interests in renal surgery, endourology and general urology, particularly benign prostatic hyperplasia and its surgical management. He is the clinical lead for patient safety in urology and emergency urology at Addenbrooke's. He maintains a strong academic interest, publishing in high quality peer-reviewed clinical journals and presenting his research locally, nationally and internationally.
