Mr Kirkby-Bott aims to minimise wait times and help you get back to the things that matter quicker – He aims to offer you an initial consultation within 7 days of first contact and surgery within 2-4 weeks (if surgery is needed).
Mr Kirkby-Bott, lead surgeon at Hernia Clinic Hampshire, has repaired over 2,000 hernias including inguinal hernias, femoral hernias, umbilical hernias, epigastric hernias, spigelian hernias and incisional hernias. He aims to help patients be free from their hernia symptoms quicker, with lower risks of recurrence and improved long-term comfort.
He specialises in open hernia repairs using local anaesthetic and sedation, a gentler approach that shortens recovery time and is suitable for patients of all ages and health conditions. He is also highly experienced in laparoscopic (keyhole) repairs.

With over 750 urgent gallbladder operations performed, Mr Kirkby-Bott is highly experienced in keyhole surgery and avoiding complications such as bile duct injury. He played a key role in setting up the trauma and acute surgery unit at the University Hospital Southampton and has previously been and has previously been a chairperson for the Emergency Laparotomy Project (Wessex AHSN, 2017-2020) and Regional lead for the Emergency Laparotomy Collaborative (2015-2017). This unit most frequently treated gallbladder issues.
Lipoma removal is not always available on the NHS. If your hospital has declined removal, Mr Kirkby-Bott is happy to offer help.
