About Mrs Jagdeep Singh
Personal Profile
Mrs Jagdeep Singh relocated to Guildford in July 2020 and was appointed as a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust in August 2020.
Training and Appointment
Mrs Singh completed her pre-clinical training at Somerville College, University of Oxford and was awarded a BA (Hons) in Physiological Sciences in 2002.
She went on to complete her clinical training at University College London and qualified (MBBS) in 2005, then finished her Higher Surgical Training in the West Midlands, where she focussed on specialist breast training at the major university teaching hospitals including University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
Mrs Singh worked as a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, part of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, between June 2018 and July 2020. She was the Breast Angiosarcoma Lead for the West Midlands and established the regional Electrochemotherapy service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for breast cancer patients with skin metastases.
She was awarded the Silver Medal in the European Board of Surgery Examinations in Breast Surgery in 2018.
Research and publications
In 2012 Mrs Singh was awarded a Medical Doctorate (MD) from the University of Manchester for her research into breast cancer stem cell regulation.
She received a Royal College of Surgeons Surgical Research Fellowship (2010) and the Royal College of Surgeons Stefan Galeski Travelling Fellowship (2011).
Her research led to several high impact factor publications and international presentations, and she was presented with the Allen Edwards Research Prize at the British Association of Surgical Oncology (BASO) Scientific Conference in 2011.
She was selected to join the National Cancer Research Institute Breast Clinical Studies Group through the Trainee Scheme in 2016 and has continued to engage in clinical research. Mrs Singh was the Chief Investigator of the National Mastectomy Decisions Audit (MasDA), a multicentre prospective observational study which evaluated recommendations for mastectomy by UK multidisciplinary teams.
She is a steering group member of the Neoadjuvant Systemic Treatment (NeST) study and the Breast Angiosarcoma Surveillance Study (BRASS). Her research has led to many publications.
