Mr Inderpaul Samra is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. His practice focuses on the management of patients with hip and knee arthritis, as well as complex hip conditions, particularly in younger patients requiring reconstructive or joint-preserving surgery.

He graduated from Cardiff University School of Medicine with commendation and completed specialist orthopaedic training in the North-West deanery Manchester rotation. He undertook further training in hip and knee arthroplasty at Wrightington Hospital, an internationally recognised centre of excellence for joint replacement surgery.

Mr Samra then completed advanced fellowship training at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham, one of the UK’s leading specialist orthopaedic centres. During this time, he developed specialist expertise in the management of young adult hip disorders and gained extensive experience in hip arthroplasty, hip resurfacing, custom hip replacement, and joint-preserving procedures including hip arthroscopy and both pelvic and femoral osteotomy. He further developed his arthroplasty expertise gaining experience in hip and knee navigated surgery and robotic-assisted joint replacement during fellowship training.

His clinical practice encompasses primary hip and knee replacement surgery, hip and knee arthroscopy, hip resurfacing and biologic treatments including PRP injections. He has a particular interest in the management of young adults with hip disorders. He incorporates modern surgical techniques and enhanced recovery pathways and performs day-case arthroplasty for suitable patients to facilitate faster recovery and earlier return to normal activity.

Mr Samra has a strong commitment to evidence-based practice. He contributes outcome data to the National Joint Registry and authored the Non-Arthroplasty Hip Registry Annual Report for 2024. He has published peer-reviewed research and presented at both national and international conferences. He regularly attends specialist meetings to remain at the forefront of developments in orthopaedic surgery and continually refine his clinical practice. Alongside his clinical work, he is actively involved in teaching and training medical students and orthopaedic trainees, and has contributed as faculty on national orthopaedic training courses. He is also an active member of the British Hip Society.
