Mr Mahmood's extensive training spans the UK and New Zealand. He completed his higher specialist training in the North East of England, earning his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. His pursuit of excellence led him to further specialize through a fellowship in complex trauma at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow and a sports knee surgery fellowship at Northern General Hospital in Sheffield, where he gained advanced skills in Partial Knee Replacements. Following this, he completed a world-class fellowship in Auckland City Hospital, New Zealand, focusing on complex knee and hip joint replacements, revision surgery, and the integration of robotics and navigation in knee replacements.
Mr Mahmood has honed his expertise in hip and knee replacements through advanced training with leading surgeons across the UK. He specializes in high-stability, minimally invasive hip replacements and modern knee replacements without the use of a tourniquet. These cutting-edge techniques facilitate enhanced recovery and consistently deliver outstanding functional outcomes for his patients.
Currently, Mr Mahmood serves as a full-time Consultant and Service Lead for Lower Limb Arthroplasty at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. In this role, he routinely performs hip and knee replacements while also managing trauma cases. His dedication to advancing the field is reflected in his numerous research publications and presentations at national and international conferences. He is also passionate about mentoring the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons, serving as both an Educational and Clinical Supervisor to trainee surgeons from Glasgow and Edinburgh regions.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Mr Mahmood believes in personal fitness and a healthy lifestyle. He inculcates this passion in his patients during consultations as regaining pain free movement and quality of life are the main aims of all Orthopaedic treatments.
