Dr Fazal grew up in Nottingham, graduated from Birmingham University in 2002 and worked in Birmingham, Newcastle and Nottingham prior to starting cardiology specialist training in Newcastle and Middlesbrough. He completed a period of research in remote monitoring of pacemakers and defibrillators at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Sub specialist training at Freeman Hospital in advanced heart failure, cardiac transplant assessment, rhythm disorders, and complex device therapy for heart failure (pacemakers, ICD, CRT-D). Appointed as consultant cardiologist at Sherwood Forest Hospitals (King’s Mill Hospital and Newark Hospital) in 2014. Clinical lead for heart failure and teaching. He has published papers in rhythm disorders, pacing, and heart failure.

Dr Fazal specialises in all aspects of general cardiology including investigation and management of breathlessness, chest pain, palpitations, blackouts, dizziness & fainting.

His specialist interests are heart failure, rhythm abnormalities, blackouts, and pacemakers/ICDs.

Procedures performed: Pacemakers, ICD, CRT-D implantation, cardiac catheterisation (angiogram – via wrist), Echocardiograms, ECG, ECG monitors, loop recorder implants, shock therapy for AF, risk stratification of sudden cardiac death.
