Mr Htwe Zaw is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with expertise in foot and ankle surgery, lower limb trauma, and sports injuries. He obtained his medical degree from King’s College London in 1997 and furthered his education with three prestigious fellowship posts in foot and ankle surgery. These fellowships were completed at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital, and The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. Mr Zaw also undertook a trauma fellowship at the renowned University Hospital in Dresden, where he gained advanced knowledge in treating complex and severely injured patients, as well as expertise in managing sports injuries in the foot and ankle. Additionally, he participated in travelling fellowships in the Netherlands, France, and Switzerland, focusing on hindfoot arthroscopy, minimally invasive techniques, and ankle replacement surgery.
Since his appointment as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at The Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospital in 2012, Mr Zaw has built up a comprehensive foot and ankle service for the local community. He offers a full assessment of all foot and ankle conditions and uses the most advanced surgical techniques and equipment available. Mr Zaw is trained as a general trauma surgeon and continues to provide on-call coverage for the Hillingdon Hospital orthopaedic rota.
Mr Zaw is well-regarded for his contributions to international journals and orthopaedic textbooks. He regularly presents research papers at global conferences, focusing on keyhole surgery around the ankle joint (hindfoot arthroscopy), cartilage regeneration techniques, and the fixation of complex heel bone fractures (calcaneus). Furthermore, he lectures at regional and national conferences on foot and ankle surgery, sports injury management, and lower limb trauma.
The majority of foot and ankle surgeries Mr Zaw, performs are day-case procedures, which helps minimise hospital stays. This includes corrective bunion surgery, using the latest techniques and arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, which reduces wound size and lowers the risk of complications. Both resulting in a high degree of patient satisfaction.
Mr. Zaw welcomes consultations from both privately insured and self-pay patients. He is available at several locations, including Bishops Wood Hospital in Northwood, The Clementine Churchill Hospital in Harrow, Chiltern Hospital in Great Missenden, Shelburne Hospital in High Wycombe, and The HCA Wellington Hospital in St. John’s Wood, London. For any inquiries or to book an appointment, please contact his private secretary or reach out directly to the hospital reception staff.
