Education and experience
Dr Stevens has been a consultant dermatologist since 1998. He studied medicine at Jesus College, Oxford, and the Middlesex & University College Medical School in London. After joining the Royal College of Physicians, he studied dermatology at the Royal Free Hospital.
He conducted research at the Royal London Hospital, focusing on genetic skin diseases. He earned a PhD from Queen Mary’s & Westfield College and the Royal London Hospital, where he helped identify the first gene related to deafness.
Special interests
Dr Stevens is passionate about research, especially in skin cancer and modern screening techniques. He believes in using up-to-date knowledge to benefit his patients. He combines this with a friendly and empathetic approach, treating each patient as unique.
Supporting patients
Dr Stevens has extensive experience in general dermatology and offers a range of specialist skills. He provides high-standard dermatological and laser surgery. As a skilled Mohs surgeon, he removes certain types of skin cancer while minimising cosmetic damage and discomfort.
He uses advanced techniques like confocal microscopy, which looks beneath the skin without needing biopsies. He also uses digital dermoscopy and modern screening methods.
Prevention and early detection
Prevention is key in dermatology. Dr Stevens offers screening programmes and advice to help detect issues early. Whether you're a sports specialist, have an unusual job, or just live a normal life, early detection is crucial for health.
Personalised care
Dr Stevens combines a broad spectrum of dermatology, skin cancer knowledge, and surgical skills. He believes in thoughtful care and personal support for every illness or condition. Good communication is important to him, and he values listening to patients as much as talking to them.
By working together, Dr Stevens believes that doctors and patients can achieve the best outcomes. He measures success by how he can contribute to his patients' lives.
