About Mr Henry Sharp

Personal Profile

Mr Henry Sharp has been a substantive Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon in the NHS since January 2004. His NHS practice is at The Kent and Canterbury Hospital, The William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, The Royal Victoria Hospital in Folkestone and The Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate.

Mr Sharp qualified in Medicine (MBBS) at St Thomas' Hospital in London, and received his basic ENT training in Oxford and at Charing Cross and The Brompton Hospitals in London. His higher surgical training as a Specialist Registrar in Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery was undertaken at Guys', St Thomas' and Kings Hospitals and University Hospital, Lewisham in London. He received super-specialised paediatric training at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and The Evelina Children's Hospital at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in London.

In 2003, Mr Sharp undertook a Fellowship in advanced sinus surgery and facial plastic surgery at an internationally renowned centre in Fulda, Germany helped by a grant from The Royal Society of Medicine. He has a long standing interest in teaching and research, and in addition to his NHS clinical duties he is The Royal College of Surgeons ENT Surgery College Tutor and an Honorary Clinical Tutor to Guy's, St Thomas' and King's Hospital Medical School. These posts involve the teaching and mentoring of all Medical Students and junior ENT Surgeons at The East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.

Mr Sharp is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of all aspects of Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery, with super-specialist knowledge in the medical and surgical treatment of problems that arise with the structure and function of the nose in both his NHS and Private Practice (a Rhinologist and Nasal Plastic Surgeon).

His particular surgical interest is in rhinoplasty (a 'nose-job', or operation to alter the shape of the nose) and Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (F.E.S.S) which is surgery performed on the nose and sinuses for long standing sinus problems and nasal polyps.
