Personal Profile

Mr Heath Taylor qualified from Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School in 1994. His postgraduate surgical training was carried out in London on the North West Thames Specialist Registrar training programme, including working at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital & Charing Cross Hospital, both being internationally renowned Teaching Hospitals.

At the end of his training, he carried out sub-speciality fellowship training in complex foot and ankle surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, under the supervision of Mr John Angel and Mr Dishan Singh. The RNOH is a world famous centre of excellence for complex orthopaedic surgery. He gained vast experience in treating all forms of complex foot and ankle conditions, with patients being referred from hospitals around the country, as well as internationally.

He was appointed to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Poole Hospital in 2004 as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in complex foot and ankle surgery.

Mr Taylor’s current practice is almost exclusively related to conditions of the foot and ankle. This includes the management of complex trauma of the foot and ankle, as well as treating high level athletes and professional sportsmen and women.

He also takes an active role in training the next generation of Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Surgeons. He lectures on a number of local and national instructional courses, as well as hosting visiting surgeons wishing to learn complex Foot and Ankle surgical procedures.

Mr Taylor is also actively involved in research into the latest techniques in the treatment of foot and ankle conditions.  He has had a large number of research projects presented at national and international meetings as well as numerous publications in peer review journals. Topics of research that Mr Taylor is particularly interested in include the latest techniques in the management of bunions, the treatment of ankle arthritis as well as new techniques in the management of complex sports injuries.

In November 2019, Mr Taylor was elected as President of the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society, having been a member of council for the previous seven years. He advises on matters of national policy, ensuring that the highest standards of treatment are offered to patients suffering with foot & ankle conditions.
