Personal Profile Mr

Mr Haziq Chowdhury is an experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in Oculoplastic surgery (eyelid surgery) and Neuro-ophthalmology (visual problems related to the nervous system) at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). 

He works at both Southlands Eye Hospital and St Richard’s Hospital and is the lead for Ophthalmic Primary Care and the Botox service for blepharospasm and hemifacial spasm. 

At Goring Hall Hospital Mr Chowdhury sees patients from Worthing, Pulborough, Horsham and further afield. 

He is a keen surgical trainer of Ophthalmic trainees and has been the Royal College Tutor for Ophthalmology at UHS since 2021.  

Mr Chowdhury graduated from Guy's, King's and St Thomas' School of Medicine London along with first-class honours for his intercalated degree in Physiology, he subsequently undertook specialist ophthalmic training throughout London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex. This included training at Moorfield’s Eye Hospital and further subspecialty fellowships at King’s College Hospital London and Sussex Eye Hospital (Brighton). 

Mr Chowdhury regularly treats patients with cataracts (routine and complex), cataract-related conditions, lid malpositions/disorders (including eyelids turning inwards or outwards, drooping eyelids, excess eyelid skin removal and eyelid skin cancers), glaucoma, as well as those with visual issues relating to the nervous system and general ophthalmic conditions such as lesions on the eye, tear ducts and other abnormalities. 

Haziq has been described as being personable, with a kind and calm approach to his patients which enables him to deliver a holistic package of care.
