Dr Hegde brings with him, high-quality training, in-depth specialist clinical experience and wide knowledge in psychiatry, including psychiatry in an international context. He completed his early education in India, gaining his MD and DNBE (Diplomat of National Board of Examinations) with his training at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences in Bangalore, one of the premier academic institutions for psychiatric postgraduate studies in South East Asia.

While in the UK, Dr Hegde completed his specialist qualification in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and General Adult Psychiatry. He has trained across Oxford, South West London/ St George’s and Guys & St Thomas’ Hospital schemes. He has experience of working in old age Psychiatry, Child Psychiatry, Perinatal Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry and Psychiatry of Learning disabilities. His two main speciality skills are General Adult Psychiatry and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, with additional training in Group work, Family work and MBT. Dr Hegde has worked in Maudsley Hospital and his current NHS base is in Milton Keynes, working as a General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist.

Dr Hegde is a passionate trainer and has been an honorary lecturer at Kings College London. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, he has enjoyed teaching Psychiatry and Psychotherapy to medical students, Psychiatry and GP and Foundation Trainees. He is also the local Medical Psychotherapy Tutor, providing case supervision, seminars and conducting Balint Groups. He is the Deputy Director of Medical Education, covering Milton Keynes division of CNWL NHS Foundation Trust.

Recently, Dr Hegde has given his expert input to different forums, involved in developing services to Complex Emotional Needs related patients at secondary health services where he currently works.

Dr Hegde has worked in both inpatient and community settings as a Consultant Psychiatrist. This enabled him to use his unique set of skills in medical psychotherapy to the benefit of his psychiatric patients and their families. He has special expertise and interest in patients with Complex 
Emotional Needs, including Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorders. His deep commitment to Bio-Psycho-Social models offers his patients a holistic treatment for their complex challenges.
