About Dr Girija Anand

Personal Profile

Dr Girija (Gij) Anand is a highly experienced Consultant in Clinical Oncology at North Middlesex Health Unit as part of Royal Free London (RFL) NHS Foundation Trust, a position she has held since 2011. With over two decades of expertise, she specialises in the treatment of breast cancer and non-melanoma skin malignancies, utilising advanced radiotherapy techniques, including stereotactic radiotherapy and medical oncology.

Dr Anand obtained her MRCP in 2002 and completed her higher specialist training in Clinical Oncology in London in 2009. She has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists since 2007. Alongside her clinical work, she actively participates in research, teaching, and the recruitment of patients into national and commercial clinical trials.

Leadership & Service Development

Dedicated to service enhancement in the modern NHS, Dr Anand has taken on multiple management and leadership roles, shaping oncology services across London, including:

  • Acute Oncology Lead (2011-2012) and member of the London Cancer Acute Oncology External Reference Group (2012)
  • Radiotherapy Lead for the London Cancer Skin Pathway Board (2012-2017), streamlining skin cancer pathways across North Central London
  • Clinical Director for Oncology & Palliative Care at North Middlesex (2014-2018)
  • Radiotherapy Strategic Lead for Royal Free London & North Middlesex University Hospitals (2018-2019)
  • Faculty Member for Clinical Oncology at the Royal College of Radiologists (2019-2022)
  • Co-Lead for Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy at North Middlesex University Hospital (since 2019)
  • Associate Medical Director, Deputy Responsible Officer, at North Middlesex University Hospital (2022- 2024)
  • North Mid Health Unit Associate Medical Director and Appraisal lead, RFL NHS Foundation Trust(since 2025)
