Personal Profile

Mr Konstantopoulos is a fellowship trained Upper Limb Orthopaedic Surgeon who currently holds a substantive Consultant post in West Suffolk Hospital.

In 2019, he was appointed as an Orthopaedic Consultant with special interest in Shoulders and Elbows at Barts Health NHS Trust and in 2020 he was appointed as a consultant at the Princess Alexandra Hospital before moving to West Suffolk Hospital in 2021.

He has completed two upper limb fellowships, one at the Royal London Hospital and the other at the Derby Shoulder Unit, where he also completed training for hand conditions at the renowned ''Pulvertaft'' Hand Unit.

He completed his basic training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in Athens Greece at the KAT Hospital, where he rotated and trained within the largest Hand and Microsurgery Department in Greece.

In 2013, he obtained his Master of Science in Metabolic Disorders of the Bone, from the Medical University of Athens ‘’Kapodistriakon’’.

He has been on the GMC specialist register since 2015 and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons FRCS. Mr Konstantopoulos is a member of BESS (British Elbow and Shoulder Society), the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Medical Council of Athens.

Mr Konstantopoulos has published extensively in peer review journals, and he is the primary investigator in the DIDACT Trial (conservative vs surgical treatment of lateral end clavicle fractures), and co-investigator in the RAPSODI trial (Comparison of the outcome in different types of shoulder replacement). He is a keen tutor and has been part of the faculty at the East of England Deanery teaching days for the trainees.

Mr Konstantopoulos demonstrates an evidenced based, personalised, and multidisciplinary approach for his patients. He is driven by his passion to improve quality of life and he believes communication with the patient is the milestone for successful treatment.
