Mr Georgios Kiziridis is a consultant trauma & orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in foot and ankle surgery and lower limb reconstruction. His NHS practice is based in the renowned Rowley Bristow Orthopaedic Unit, Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey.
Training and Appointment
Mr Kiziridis was born and raised in Greece, He completed his trauma and orthopaedic training in Greece and subsequently in the UK. Overall, he received a comprehensive level of training in general orthopaedic trauma with an emphasis on major trauma, as he worked in two busy trauma centres, in Southampton and Sheffield, for several years. He gained his sub-speciality training after completion of two well recognised fellowships in foot and ankle (Surrey) and trauma and limb reconstruction (Sheffield), both of which gave him invaluable experience in management of complex conditions.
Mr Kiziridis was first appointed as a Consultant in August 2020 at Southend Hospital and then moved to Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust in March 2022. He performs a wide range of foot and ankle procedures, elective and (complex) trauma. He has a specialist interest in the management of stubborn heel pain (plantar fasciopathy, achilles tendinopathy).
Research and Publications
Mr Kiziridis is a member of the General Medical Council, the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS) and the Orthopaedic Trauma Society (OTS).
He is actively involved in the teaching and training of medical students and junior doctors, both in the UK and abroad, and has a strong academic background with several publications of scientific articles in peer reviewed journals and presentations in national and international conferences as well as a PhD in Orthopaedics. He has led many quality improvement projects and he is still actively involved in research.
He regularly attends conferences and courses, watches webinars and keeps up with the current literature to ensure that his patients will receive up to date methods and techniques of treatment, which are at the same time underpinned with a solid evidence base.
Mr Kiziridis’ area of expertise is in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery. He treats sports injuries, wear and tear conditions and trauma injuries. This includes all keyhole procedures of the ankle and complex trauma reconstructions and minimally invasive surgery where indicated. He has a special interest and great experience in management of heel pain (plantar fasciopathy, Achilles tendinopathy).
Mr Kiziridis participates in the trauma rota at the famed Rowley Bristow Unit at St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey. With a high level of expertise stemming from his unique experience, his opinion is regularly sought by his orthopaedic consultant colleagues as well as those from other specialities on patients with foot and ankle problems, both routine and complex.
Mr Kiziridis’ motto is that 'the patients do not care about how much you know until they know how much you care’ Therefore, he prides himself on his attention to detail when managing each of his patients. He takes great care in explaining any underlying problems in easy-to-understand terms, with an emphasis on patient-centred decision making for treatment.
