About Dr George Raptis

Personal Profile

Dr Raptis is a Consultant in Paediatric Allergy at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Glasgow University. 

He has been working as a Consultant in Paediatrics since 2011 and was certified in Allergology and Clinical Immunology in 2014 (European Union of Medical Specialists/UEMS board certification). 

He treats paediatric patients 3-16 years of age currently at Ross Hall Hospital with food, animal, pollen, insect, drug and other allergies. Food allergy and its effect on other organs such as gastrointestinal and skin is his main area of his expertise. He obtained his medical qualification from the University of Patras in Greece in 2002 and following completion of his house officer training, he moved to the UK to complete the paediatric specialty in Manchester. He lectures locally and nationally on food allergy and anaphylaxis. 

He is a Senior NHS Research Scotland fellow and the Principal Investigator for clinical trials and self-initiated studies in food allergy and others. His PhD studies in Immunology involved the innate immune system of the neonate. Through his research programme, he aims to develop a model of care which will cover the holistic needs of the child with severe allergies; from diagnosis and management to education of patients, parents/carers, and community professionals.
