Mr Chiu currently practises privately at leading clinics in East Lancashire. He has also served as a consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon in the NHS for over 10 years based at East Lancashire Teaching NHS Trust and Royal Bolton Foundation Hospitals NHS Trust. His expertise covers a spectrum of sub-specialities, including facial deformity, facial trauma, and cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

Mr Chiu's academic journey reflects his commitment to excellence in the field. He holds an MSc in Surgical Science and Practice from the University of Oxford (2014) and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England with a specialty in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (FRCS(OMFS)) obtained in 2012. His educational foundation includes a PGCertMedEd from the University of Dundee (2011), MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of England (2005), MB ChB in Medicine from the University of Leeds (2003), MFD from the Royal College of Surgeons of England (2000), and a BDS in Dentistry from the University of Manchester (1997). With a wealth of academic achievements, Mr Chiu has cultivated a profound understanding of surgical science and practice.

Beyond his clinical duties, Mr Chiu has made significant contributions to research and academia. He represented the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons as a member of the working group that published the latest 2020 Third Molar Guidelines. He serves as the chief investigator at Saving Faces, a prominent research charity, showcasing his dedication to advancing the field. He is also a member of the core group that runs the Quality and Outcomes in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (QOMS) Project. Additionally, his insights have been sought as an Associate Editor for the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Mr Chiu's commitment to education is evident through his completion of a PGCertMedEd, and he has actively participated in conferences, presenting his research findings. Mr Chiu organises the regional Head and Neck facial reconstruction course with local facial skin flaps.
