About Mr Farrokh Pakzad

Personal Profile

Farrokh Pakzad joined the team at Royal Surrey County Hospital in June 2012 as Consultant Oncoplastic Breast and Skin Cancer Surgeon.

Training and Appointment

He studied at Sherborne School before starting his medical degree at Bart’s and Royal London Medical School. He completed his higher surgical training in London, during which he was selected onto the highly competitive National Oncoplastic Fellowship programme. This unique background in both plastic and oncological surgery enables him to provide the most effective treatments for both breast and skin cancer, while preserving cosmetic and functional outcomes wherever possible.

He has expertise in the management of all aspect of benign and malignant breast disease, oncoplastic breast conservation, immediate and delayed breast reconstruction and correction of breast asymmetry. He has wide expertise in the use of Intraoperative Sentinel Node Analysis, using both the Metasin and the OSNA systems.

His other area of clinical expertise is in the management of skin cancers, particularly melanoma, and he is currently the clinical lead for the regional specialist skin cancer multidisciplinary team, clinical lead of the department of breast and skin surgery unit and chair of the Alliance Cancer Network Specialist Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Team.

Research and publications

Mr Pakzad has a wide and active academic interest in cancer biology, stemming back to his undergraduate training. He completed his post graduate M.D. thesis in molecular imaging of cancer and continues to be involved in both translational and clinical research.
