About Mr Faqar Anjum

Personal Profile

Mr Anjum is a Consultant Urological surgeon at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust with a specialist interest in stones (kidney, ureteric and bladder), endourology, general urology and paediatric urology. He has broad-based urology and surgery training in both the UK and abroad. In addition to his surgical and urological qualifications, he has an MSc in Urology from University College London (UCL). He has presented many topics internationally and has published multiple peer-reviewed papers. He regularly audits the care that he provides to his patients, and he is the Clinical Director for Urology and Nephrology.

He is enthusiastic regarding teaching and training of juniors and is currently an educational and clinical supervisor. Mr Anjum has extensive experience of all stone treatment modalities including lithotripsy, supine percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), percutaneous cystolithotomy (PCCL), ureteroscopy (flexible/rigid) and laser ablation of stones and upper tract tumours. He is a mentor and trainer for consultants and senior trainees learning supine PCNL.

Mr Anjum regularly organises the Dartford Supine PCNL Training Course at Darent Valley Hospital where he demonstrates live supine PCNL cases (including renal access). He has particular expertise in supine PCNL (submit data to BAUS registry on regular basis) for complex renal stones, PCCL and treatment of stones in a calyceal diverticulum. He also covers all aspects of the investigation and treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, including bipolar TURP and GreenLight laser prostatectomy. He has wide experience in performing inguino-scrotal surgery including varicocele ligation, hydrocele repair, excision of epididymal cyst, orchidectomy and testicular prosthesis. Moreover, he routinely performs district hospital paediatric urological procedures including circumcision, orchidopexy and ligation of patent processes vaginalis (congenital hydrocele).
