Having qualified from the University of Aberdeen with distinction in 2008, Mr Hansom completed his orthopaedic training in the West of Scotland; during which time he also completed an MD research degree at the University of Glasgow. He completed three international fellowships in New Zealand, focusing on joint replacement and soft tissue knee surgery (Middlemore/Mercy Ascot Hospital, Auckland), soft tissue knee surgery and sports injuries (UniSports Clinic, Auckland) and orthopaedic trauma (Auckland City Hospital, Auckland). In addition, Mr Hansom is a Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow and a member of the Academy of Clinical Educators at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
Mr Hansom is also Associate Post Graduate Dean for Simulation training in Orthopaedics in Scotland, as well as being an Associate editor for the 'Orthopaedics & Traumatology: Surgery & Research' journal.
He has a busy NHS practice centering on primary hip and knee replacement surgery (including Unicompartmental knee replacements and navigation), arthroscopic soft tissue knee surgery (including ligament reconstruction), and tibial and femoral osteotomy surgery.
