Dr Deepan Vyas is a Consultant General Paediatrician with over 20 years’ experience in children’s health. He provides high-quality care for a wide range of common childhood conditions, with particular clinical expertise in children’s allergies. His practice combines thorough general paediatric assessment with specialist skills in managing allergic conditions such as food allergies, hayfever, asthma, eczema, gastrointestinal allergy, and allergic rhinitis.
Dr Vyas regularly sees children with common childhood presentations such as persistent cough, wheeze, abdominal pain, constipation, intolerances, gastro-oesophageal reflux, feeding difficulties, nutritional issues and rashes, offering thorough assessment and evidence-based management. By combining his broad experience in paediatrics with specialist knowledge, he offers individualised management plans that enhance the quality of life for each child and their family.
Dr Vyas values creating a calm, supportive environment for children, young people and families. His caring approach helps children and young people feel comfortable and engaged, while offering parents clear explanations and thoughtful guidance.
He read medicine at the University of Sheffield Medical School and graduated in 2002. His postgraduate training was in West Midlands and London at leading centres including Great Ormond Street, Royal Brompton and Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Dr Vyas further specialised in Paediatric Allergy at the prestigious Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, before obtaining his NHS Consultant appointment at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
In 2018, Dr Vyas was awarded a Master of Science degree in Advanced Paediatrics from University College London, completing his final thesis analysing anaphylaxis trends in the United Kingdom. His work was presented at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Conference.
He is passionate about medical education and is the Training Programme Director for Foundation Trainees at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He frequently delivers engaging and well-received talks on paediatric and allergy topics to a wide range of professionals.
Dr Vyas plays a key role in developing allergy care locally and nationally. He is a member of the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology Working Group, contributing to national service standards and guidance on peanut immunotherapy. He also co-authored the UK’s largest survey of paediatric allergy service provision.
