He trained in anaesthesia at Oxford and completed a pain medicine fellowship at Stanmore and UCL. He completed his Diploma in Musculoskeletal Medicine in 2015. He was part of the IPASS team which set up an innovative integrated pain and spinal assessment and treatment service in the West Berkshire area and received the Emerging Best Practice Award by the British Society of Rheumatology for 2016.
Dr Ravindran’s areas of special clinical expertise include treatment of neck and back pain, fibromyalgia neuropathic pain, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and cancer pain. He firmly believes pain disorders should be treated as early as possible with excellent quality rehabilitation and appropriate use of multidisciplinary techniques.
Along with utilising a full complement of pharmacological treatments for pain, Dr. Ravindran also performs a variety of interventional procedures such as epidural, facet and sacroiliac joint injections, radiofrequency lesioning, and sympathetic and peripheral nerve blocks guided by X-ray and ultrasound and prolotherapy/PRP. He has additional US and European qualifications in Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP).
Dr Ravindran is keenly interested in promoting high quality pain education. He has presented at various conferences across Europe and created an app for educating patients and healthcare professionals about analgesic medication. His team at the Royal Berkshire won first prize in the General Patient category at the National Grunenthal Pain awards in May 2017; his private clinic received the whatclinic.com 2014 award for customer service, and he has been awarded the certificate of excellence by iwantgreatcare.org for 2017.
Dr Ravindran has also been recognised as the Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB) Learner of the Year and the Chartered Management Institute's (CMI) Outstanding Apprentice of the Year. The awards recognise his role in establishing and managing one of the first long Covid clinics in the country.
