About Mr David McKenna

Personal Profile

He studied pre-clinical medicine at the University of Oxford and completed his clinical medical training at the University of London, graduating in 2002. During his studies, he was awarded the Esther Frances White Memorial Prize and achieved a Distinction in Surgery.

He completed his Basic Surgical Training on the Cambridge Training Programme at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. He then progressed to Higher Surgical Training on the Percival Pott Training Programme at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

During his specialist training, he gained extensive experience across several leading UK centres, including St Bartholomew’s Hospital and The Royal London Hospital, the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, and Norfolk & Norwich Hospital.

He has developed specialist expertise in hip and knee surgery, with a particular focus on joint reconstruction and complex cases. His clinical interests include:

  • Primary hip and knee replacement surgery
  • Partial knee replacement
  • Knee preservation procedures
  • Knee arthroscopy (keyhole surgery)
  • Revision hip and knee replacement surgery
  • Management of metastatic bone disease
  • General trauma surgery

He has particular experience in treating complex joint reconstruction cases. His aim is to help patients regain mobility, reduce pain, and achieve the best possible long-term functional outcomes.

Through his specialist practice at Droitwich Spa Hospital, Mr McKenna provides expert orthopaedic care using advanced surgical techniques combined with careful, individualised treatment planning.

His approach is centred on clear communication, evidence-based decision-making, and ensuring that each patient fully understands their diagnosis and treatment options.
