Mr Lowe is a fully-accredited ENT Consultant with specialist interest in rhinology. At Woodlands Hospital in Darlington, he sees self-pay and insured patients.

His wider NHS and private practice encompass all forms of nasal surgery, both functional and cosmetic. It also focuses on endoscopic sinus and orbital surgery. In the NHS as Clinical Lead for Rhinology at South Tees Hospitals, he has ongoing involvement in anterior skull base surgery, liaising frequently with neurosurgical, ophthalmological and plastic surgery colleagues. 

Background

Mr Lowe was born and educated on the South Coast. He moved to study Medicine at University College London (UCL) in the inaugural year of the combined University College London and Middlesex Hospitals combined School of Medicine. He first gained an interest and experience of ENT via placements at the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital (Gray’s Inn Road) which to this day is world-renowned for ear, nose and throat and head and neck surgery. In addition to achieving MBBS, Mr Lowe completed a specialist intercalated Honour's BSc degree in the prestigious Department of Neuroscience at University College London. He was fortunate to work directly with Professor John O’Keefe who more recently has been awarded the Nobel Prize for his related work. His research fellowship included clinical component of facial plastic surgery at St Mary’s Hospital, London.

Training 

Mr Lowe has had extensive surgical training, having worked in a number of London Teaching Hospitals and The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. After basic surgical training, he was the Project Manager and Research Fellow for the National Prospective Tonsillectomy Audit. This remains one of the largest surgical studies completed worldwide and was a Department of Health funded international study. It led directly to UK guidance in the field of ear, nose and throat surgery from the National Institute for Clinical Excellence. His registrar training in ENT included time in both Oxford and then mainly Cambridge regions in ENT.

Experience 

Mr Lowe took up his post as ENT Consultant and Lead for Rhinology in 2009, and has continued to develop wide clinical expertise in rhinology and ear, nose and throat surgery. He attends both skull base (neurosurgical) and vasculitis multi-disciplinary teams. He also performs complex rhinological procedures including tertiary referral cases, operating at both James Cook University Hospital as well as the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton.
