Personal Profile

Dr David Taylor undertook specialist respiratory training at the Royal Brompton Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital in London. In addition, he undertook three years of research at the National Heart and Lung Institute investigating molecular mechanisms underlying diseases of the airways such as asthma and COPD. He has published widely on his research. Dr Taylor was appointed Consultant Respiratory Physician at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust in 2002.

From 2002 - 2008 Dr Taylor led the Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust lung cancer service and was Chairman of the Thames Valley Cancer Network lung cancer group until 2012. From 2012- 2015 Dr Taylor was Director of Division of Integrated Medicine incorporating all the medical and community-based specialties of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and was Director of the Respiratory Department of Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville Hospitals until 2012.

Dr Taylor is Clinical lead for Asthma, COPD, Chronic cough and Non-Invasive Ventilation. He has continued to develop his expertise in airways disease setting up and running a regional Chronic Cough Clinic and new community based respiratory services. Dr Taylor has helped develop national guidelines on the management of chronic cough in various settings.
