Dr Damien C M Yeo is a Consultant Ophthalmologist practicing in general ophthalmology with a subspecialist expertise in strabismus, ocular motility disorders, and paediatric ophthalmology. He is based at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and St Paul’s Eye Unit in Liverpool.

Dr Yeo is nationally recognised for his work in the diagnosis and surgical management of strabismus. He routinely performs surgery on patients with prior failed or partially successful squint procedures. His practice is informed by a strong understanding of binocular vision, neurology, and the functional and cosmetic impact of eye misalignment at all ages.

Following his medical degree, Dr Yeo trained in ophthalmology across the UK and gained Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth). He completed higher specialist training in through the Wales Deanery, and went on to undertake an advanced clinical fellowship at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Moorfields Eye Hospital, and the Royal London Hospital. In addition to his NHS role, Dr Yeo offers private second opinions, surgical planning, and long-term management for patients with conditions such as intermittent and constant exotropia, diplopia (double vision), convergence insufficiency and adult residual strabismus after childhood squint.

Dr Yeo is also a keen academic and surgical educator. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles, including national cohort studies on infantile esotropia and comparative work on surgical techniques. He regularly lectures on topics such as paediatric ophthalmology, ocular genetics, visual development disorders, and the use of digital healthcare.

A strong advocate for innovation, Dr Yeo integrates modern diagnostics such as high-resolution ocular imaging, digital assessment tools, and modern surgical planning into his clinical work. He is involved in several technology collaborations aiming to improve the ophthalmology care of children and adults alike.

Known for his approachable manner and clear communication style, Dr Yeo provides his patients with honest, evidence-based advice and a tailored treatment plan. He understands that strabismus can have a significant psychosocial and professional impact and is committed to helping patients achieve both functional and cosmetic improvements. His surgical practice includes general ophthalmology and strabismus surgery where his aims are to achieve the patient’s expectations with as few surgeries as possible and with minimal scarring and pain.
