He began specialist training in Clinical Oncology in Leeds in 1985 then as Registrar at the Middlesex and Mount Vernon Hospitals obtaining Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR). Then as Senior Registrar in Nottingham before being appointed as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Northampton General Hospital in 1992 -2016.
He was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in London in 1999.
During Dr Macmillan’s career, cancer treatments have advanced considerably, with significant developments in diagnosis, radiotherapy, systemic therapies, and personalised treatment approaches.
Throughout this period, he has remained committed to ensuring that his patients have access to modern cancer treatments and the latest developments in oncology.
