Craig qualified as a Physiotherapist from the University of Southampton in 2003, with a BSC(hons) Physiotherapy.
He started his career in the NHS, rotating through all specialities before specialising in Respiratory, Musculoskeletal injuries and Orthopaedic rehabilitation. There he assisted in the running of Pulmonary Rehabilitation services for patient suffering with chronic respiratory conditions. He also ran Physiotherapy clinics for the specialist treatment of individuals with chronic respiratory conditions. Craig also worked as a senior Physiotherapist in the Outpatient department, working closely with consultants in the treatment and planning of patient’s recovery. Craig moved to Mount Alvernia in 2008 where he has been working in both the ward and outpatient settings. He maintains strong links with our consultants to ensure the patient gets the best possible outcome for their problems. He has vast experience of working in both private and NHS services and has worked with a wide range of individuals from elite cyclists to weekend warriors. Craig also offers acupuncture treatment for wide range of conditions with great success.
Craig is passionate about healthcare and believes that successful treatment is underpinned by patient empowerment and education. Engaging the individual to understand and manage their injury will lead to the best outcome of their treatment. He believes in combining full biomechanical assessment with manual therapy and graded exercise prescription, to help individuals progress through their rehabilitation following injury or surgery to achieve their individual goals however big or small.
Craig specialises in musculoskeletal and sports injuries, he is a qualified bike fitter and an APPI Pilates instructor, running classes here at Mount Alvernia. More recently Craig has been highly involved in the development and running of our Long COVID service at Mount Alvernia hospital and has introduced the ‘Shockwave service’, an evidence based and effective treatment for the management of tendon injuries. He also works as the clinical adviser and trainer for our hospitals, in Manual Handling and Ergonomic issues. Craig lives just outside Guildford with his wife with and two children and believes in an active lifestyle.
