Mr Chris Down is a highly experienced Consultant Urologist with a specialist focus on urinary tract stone disease and minimally invasive urological surgery. He is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care at Goring Hall Hospital, where he treats a wide range of urological conditions with compassion and clinical excellence. He see patients from Worthing, Pulborough, Horsham and across the wider West Sussex area.
Chris grew up in Guildford, Surrey, and pursued his medical education at King’s College London School of Medicine, where he graduated with a distinction in Clinical Practice. His passion for urology was sparked during a prestigious fellowship at the renowned Urology Department at Guy’s Hospital, one of the UK’s leading centres for urological care. He then completed his higher surgical training across Kent, Surrey, and Sussex, gaining broad and in-depth experience in all aspects of urology.
Chris has developed a subspecialist interest in endourology, with particular expertise in the diagnosis and management of urinary tract stone disease. He is proficient in a wide range of advanced techniques for stone removal and prevention, offering patients effective and minimally invasive treatment options.
He also has a strong interest in the treatment of benign prostatic enlargement, and is a key provider of Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP), a modern, minimally invasive alternative to traditional prostate surgery that offers excellent outcomes and faster recovery.
Chris is known for his patient-focused approach, taking the time to understand each individual’s needs and tailoring treatment plans accordingly. His goal is to ensure that every patient receives the highest standard of care throughout their journey.
Outside of his clinical work, Chris enjoys an active lifestyle. He lives locally with his wife Adriana, a GP, and their young son. In his spare time, he enjoys sailing, skiing, and cycling across the South Downs.
