Dr Chetan Narshi is a Consultant Rheumatologist and Physician with extensive experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of rheumatological and musculoskeletal conditions. He sees patients with both new and long-standing symptoms, including joint pain, swelling, stiffness, muscle discomfort and concerns relating to autoimmune conditions. His approach is centred on understanding each patient as an individual, taking into account their symptoms, medical history and the way their condition is affecting their everyday life.
He understands that rheumatological conditions can have a considerable impact on day-to-day wellbeing. Pain, stiffness, swelling and fatigue can make everyday activities more difficult and may affect work, exercise, sleep and independence. Dr Narshi therefore takes time to listen carefully to his patients, understand what matters most to them and explain their diagnosis and treatment options in clear, straightforward language. He aims to create a relaxed and supportive consultation where patients feel comfortable discussing their concerns, asking questions and taking an active role in decisions about their care.
Dr Narshi studied at the University of Cambridge and completed specialist training across a number of London teaching hospitals.
He has held senior leadership roles within rheumatology and served as Head of Rheumatology at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Narshi is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Buckingham Medical School, where he is involved in the teaching and development of medical students. He also works with NHS England as a Case Manager for the Professional Support and Wellbeing Service.
Dr Narshi takes a thorough and individual approach to each consultation. He will discuss your symptoms, medical history and any previous investigations or treatments before considering whether further tests or treatment may be needed.
Rheumatological symptoms can sometimes have several possible causes, so understanding how and when your symptoms developed can be an important part of reaching a diagnosis. Dr Narshi will explain his findings and the available options in straightforward terms, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and understand the next steps.
To help make the most of your appointment, please arrange for your GP referral letter, relevant medical history and current medication list to be shared before your consultation where possible.
He also has expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound, which can be used to examine joints and soft tissues in more detail and, where appropriate, to guide injections and other procedures.
