He completed specialist dermatology training in Wales in 2008 and has been on the specialist register since then. Dr Jong began his career as a Consultant Dermatologist in 2009 at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport. In order to gain further experience in treating skin cancers, Dr Jong worked in Newcastle, Australia from 2015 to 2016. He regularly presented cases at the local monthly dermatology meetings at the John Hunter Hospital. He had managed patients with severe sun damage and skin malignancies during his time in Australia.

Dr Jong was the Clinical and Skin Cancer Lead for West Kent Dermatology from 2016 to 2022. During his tenure, Dr Jong participated at the weekly skin cancer multidisciplinary meeting to discuss patients who had been diagnosed with high-risk skin cancers including melanoma and squamous cell cancer.
