About Dr Charles Butcher

Personal Profile

Dr Butcher is Consultant Cardiologist and Specialist in cardiac rhythm management including device implantation. He is currently the Arrhythmia lead and runs specialist clinics at Dorset County Hospital. He also performs ablation operations at Royal Bournemouth Hospital. 

After graduating from the Royal Free and University College London Medical school Dr Butcher was awarded a PhD at Imperial College London for his thesis which focussed on optimising cardiac resynchronisation therapy pacemakers for patients with heart failure.

His work has been presented at national and international conferences and subsequently published in well-respected journals. He completed his general cardiology training and electrophysiology fellowship at various prestigious London teaching hospitals including Harefield Hospital, St Bartholomew's Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital, before taking up his current post. 

Dr Butcher provides care for a wide range of cardiac conditions including heart failure, hypertension, cardiomyopathy and valve disease.
