Personal Profile

Miss Caroline Payne has dedicated her training to achieve a high standard in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. She attended Queen Mary College (London University) to obtain a First class BSc(Hons) degree in Genetics, then completed her medical degree St Thomas’s and Guys hospitals, London in 1994 followed by a Masters degree at UCL, London. Miss Payne is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in plastic surgery, FRCS(Plast), and is listed on the GMC Specialist Register.

 Her specialised training includes two fellowships:

  • A year at Toronto General/Mount Sinai Hospitals, Canada, specialising in Microsurgery, Breast Reconstruction, and Head and Neck Surgery
  • A cosmetic surgery fellowship at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London

She is the Head and Clinical Lead in breast reconstruction at St Bartholomew’s and Royal London Hospitals. Her specialist areas include:

  • Breast reconstruction, particularly free flap DIEP reconstruction (over 400 performed)
  • Breast enlargement/reduction
  • Correction of breast asymmetry
  • Breast lift
  • Lipofilling
  • Tummy-tuck
  • Liposuction
  • Body sculpting  
  • Corrective surgery after massive weight-loss

She performs all of these procedures in both her private and NHS practice.

Beyond her clinical work, she has peer-reviewed publications, co-authored book chapters, and has been invited to lecture at national and international meetings on various topics in aesthetic and plastic surgery. She is also passionate about charitable work and has raised over £8,000 for charity by participating in bike races and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro (5895 meters).
