He spent a period of four years at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and this included a period of research with King’s College London in Oral Crohn’s Disease, Orofacial Granulomatosis and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. During this period he gained extensive experience in both upper and lower GI diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.
Dr Nunes completed his specialist training in Gastroenterology and General Medicine in 2008 and was appointed Consultant at Kent & Canterbury Hospital the same year. He sees patients with all gastroenterological conditions and has developed a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and general luminal gastroenterology.
Dr Nunes is also a nationally accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist, developing a special interest in bowel cancer and advanced therapeutic endoscopy. He is a lecturer at the St George's Hospital, London colonoscopy training courses. Dr Nunes also provides a small bowel capsule endoscopy service for investigation of small bowel disease such as coeliac disease and inflammatory bowel disease.
He is a consultant gastroenterologist and general physician at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.
