Mr Somanchi is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacement (arthroplasty) surgery. He also performs arthroscopic surgery of the knee for conditions such as meniscal tears. He is an expert in managing painful hip and knee conditions such as osteoarthritis, bursitis, and tendonitis.

After completing post-graduate training and obtaining MS(Orth) from India’s premier medical institute (PGI, Chandigarh), Mr Somanchi immigrated to the UK and pursued further post-graduate training, obtaining FRCS (Tr & Orth). He furthered his hip and knee arthroplasty surgical skills through fellowships at Maidstone Hospital and Royal Derby Hospital. He started his consultant career at Royal Derby Hospital before settling in Manchester as a full-time Consultant in Tameside General Hospital.

Mr Somanchi is a high-volume hip and knee replacement surgeon in the adult population with different surgical complexities. He has consistently delivered excellent outcomes and is well known for his patient-centred care, based on the best available clinical evidence. He strives to improve care by monitoring his surgical outcomes with regular audits. Mr Somanchi practices techniques like enhanced recovery and good soft tissue handling to reduce the length of hospital stay and better patient outcomes. He consistently receives very good feedback from his treated patients.

Mr Somanchi is the Clinical Lead for the National Joint Registry (NJR) data quality improvement programme in Tameside General Hospital and has a fantastic track record of clinical outcomes on the joint registry.

He is passionate in teaching and training and keeps himself updated with regular attendance to national and international courses and conferences. He has published in renowned orthopaedic journals and presented in various scientific conferences.
