Mr Bala Reddy qualified in India and completed his higher surgical training in Yorkshire. Mr Reddy has received numerous awards during his higher surgical training for the research in Gut Barrier function and how gut function can be restored following major surgery. These included the prestigious Moynihan Medal awarded by the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, The Syme Medal awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and the Leeds Regional Surgical Club Medal.

In October 2012 Mr Reddy was awarded CCT and was appointed as a Colorectal/General Surgeon at the Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust. He went on to do an advanced laparoscopic colorectal fellowship at Portsmouth where he worked with Professor Amjit Parvaiz before starting his consultant job at the Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust. Since being at the Trust he has introduced the laparoscopic hernia service at The Alexandra Hospital, and has also provided laparoscopic colorectal services to the Redditch and Kidderminster population.

Following his research and specialist training Mr Reddy has developed a special interest in laparoscopic colorectal and hernia surgery, colorectal cancer, and endoscopy including colonoscopy.
