About Mr Bahram Fakouri

Personal Profile

Mr Bahram Fakouri is a senior and highly skilled Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London. He graduated from medical school in Duesseldorf Germany in 1996. He then specialised in Neurosurgery and qualified as a Neurosurgeon in 2003 from a teaching hospital of the University of Bonn in Germany.

During and after the completion of his neurosurgical training, Mr Fakouri has completed a few spinal fellowship trainings, i.e., fellowship in orthopaedic spinal surgery at the Centre for Spinal Surgery in Nottingham and a fellowship at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. He is one of the few spinal surgeons who had dual spinal training, orthopaedic and neurosurgical, at the beginning of the 21st century.

Mr Fakouri was initially a consultant spinal surgeon in Cologne Germany before he was appointed as Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, where he has developed the cervical spine service. He is currently the lead clinician for the department of adult spinal surgery. In the meantime, he has performed a huge number of spinal operations in various countries over years.

Mr Fakouri practices privately at the Blackheath Hospital and London Bridge Hospital in London.

Mr Fakouri has been interested in research and was awarded MD by the medical university in Duesseldorf in 1998. He has published in peer-reviewed spinal journals.

Mr Fakouri has also been involved in the teaching and training of young doctors and future spinal consultants. His approach to spinal conditions is extremely conservative, non-invasive, or minimally invasive surgery, and he is passionate about new surgical techniques that can minimise the potential risks and complications of spinal interventions and reduce the hospital stay. Most of his procedures are performed as day-case or require a hospital stay less than 24 hours.
