Personal Profile

Dr Babur Javaid graduated from punjab University Lahore, Pakistan in 1987. He started his Specialist Training in Gastroenterology and General internal medicine in Liverpool in 1995. He had the opportunity to work with Professor Sir Ian Gilmore and Professor Jonathan Rhodes as a specialist registrar.

He was apointed as a consultant gastroenterologist at North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust in 2001. Apart from developing Gastroenterology service he was also very committed to training and education. Dr Javaid successfully completed his diploma in clincial education in 2010. He also acts as an examiner for postgraduate examination on behalf of Royal College of Physicians.

He has been involved with research and acted as principal investigator/co-investigator for a number of multicentre clinical trials. His reasearch interests include Barrettt's oesophagus, IBD and endoscopy.

Dr Javaid was apointed as a consultant enterologist in Bedford Hospital in April 2014. He is clinical lead for the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service and is involved with endoscopy training.
