She underwent basic surgical training within the Oxford Deanery. Her final year of training was concentrated in advanced surgical training (ASTO) in Ocular Inflammatory Eye Diseases at the Oxford Eye Hospital and The Western Eye Hospital, St. Mary’s NHS Trust, London. This was followed by a Fellowship in Cornea and External Eye Diseases at the Western Eye Hospital, St. Mary’s NHS Trust London. Miss Shaikh then undertook further sub speciality training in all aspects of medical and surgical management and laser treatment of Glaucoma by way of another Fellowship at the Oxford Eye Hospital.
Miss Shaikh can offer state of the art surgery for cataracts, including toric and premium multifocal implants. The bulk of Miss Shaikh’s work in her NHS job is in management of Glaucoma with medications, lasers and surgery. A lot of glaucoma surgery is either preceded (eg. Glaucoma drainage surgery or Trabeculectomy) by or requires concurrent cataract surgery (eg. Insertion of MIGS glaucoma implants). Cataracts in glaucoma patients can be complex and Miss Shaikh is very experienced in the surgical management of these challenging cases.
Additionally, as Miss Shaikh also has fellowship training in Cornea and External Eye diseases and Ocular Inflammatory Eye diseases, she can consult with patients with these conditions. Her very comprehensive training in Ophthalmology means that she can manage patients with general and acute ophthalmology and lid conditions.
Miss Shaikh values patient feedback as it can help improve the care of others. She would be grateful if you could spend a few moments providing feedback about your care by using one of the links below:
