About Prof Arunachalam Iyer

Personal Profile

Prof Iyer did his Higher Surgical Training in Newcastle rotation where he obtained a certificate of completion of speciality training in ear, nose and throat surgery in 2005. In the final year of his training, he undertook an Otology/Neurotology fellowship at Auckland City Hospital & Starship childrens hospital, Auckland NZ. He has gained wide experience in the management of ear disease in addition to the management of general ENT conditions.

During his training and subsequently, he has completed research in various aspects of ENT, presenting papers in local, national and international conferences. He has several publications in international journals and one of his key areas of interest has been Quality of life in Otolaryngology.

Prof Iyer is currently working as a Consultant ENT Surgeon & Otologist at Lanarkshire. He also teaches at the Temporal bone course at Glasgow and is involved in training junior doctors.

Prof Iyer is Library/Education Resources Lead for the Royal Society of Medicine (Otology section) in addition to being President elect of the BSO.
