Mr Arun Kumar is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Hip and Knee surgery. He completed his higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in Manchester in 2006 and went to Toronto for a fellowship in Lower Limb Arthroplasty for 6 months, where he gained experience in Uncemented Hip Arthroplasty and Revision Surgery.
He then returned to join another fellowship at the University Hospitals of Leicester, gaining extensive experience in Lower Limb Arthroplasty and Soft Tissue surgery. Mr Kumar was awarded a Travelling Fellowship by The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and John Charnley Trust for Fellowship in Canada.
Mr Arun Kumar’s NHS practice is based at Wythenshawe Hospital, now a part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) where he was appointed in 2007. He has held positions of responsibility as a Clinical Director and Clinical Head of the Division for Trauma & Orthopaedics.
He has published over 40 papers in different Orthopaedic journals and remains committed to teaching of medical students and training of Orthopaedic trainees. He regularly teaches on national and international courses.
Mr Kumar also uses The VELYS™ surgical system. This is an innovative robotic tool that aids the consultant during the knee replacement surgery, allowing for greater accuracy and precision that isn’t possible with traditional knee replacement techniques.
