About Mr Arif Khan

Personal Profile

Mr Arif Khan was appointed Consultant General Surgeon in 2005, with special interest in colorectal surgery and keyhole surgery. He was trained in University College Hospital London and awarded CCST by the Royal College of Surgeon's Intercollegiate Board.

Mr Khan was the Colorectal Lead and the Head of Enhance Recovery Programme (ERAS). He is a National Trainer for minimally invasive haemorrhoidal surgery and laparoscopic colorectal surgery. He is also a JAG-approved endoscopist and performs screening and diagnostic endoscopies.

He is an expert in sports hernia keyhole surgery and specialises in the treatment of anal fissure, fistula, diverticular disease and management of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. He also specialises in the management of gallbladder disease and performs laparoscopic cholecystectomies.

Mr Arif Khan has an international profile in colorectal surgery and is well known for modern techniques of haemorrhoids treatment. He has published his work in International journals and his publications can be sited on the ResearchGate website. He is keen on teaching and training and is a faculty member of the FRCS and MRCS course. He also holds the position of Senior Lecturer at Edge Hill University; he is a member of Clinical Excellence Award committee and is an Appraiser for medical and surgical consultants.
